Digitization Photographer

Do you have a passion for history and photography? This position may be what you’re looking for! HistoryIT is hiring a full-time Digitization Photographer in the Portland, Maine, office. This position will produce digital surrogates of books, manuscripts, photographs, slides, objects, and more to be used in client materials.

Requirements

Skills/Abilities

  • Experience using professional-level digital imaging equipment (copy stand, camera, lighting)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Comfort working independently  
  • Proficient in macOS and Adobe Suite
  • Familiarity with FADGI is a plus

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Degree in Photography or a closely related field highly preferred but not required
  • Two years of related experience preferred
  • Portfolio of prior work required

Physical Requirements

  • Long periods of sitting
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Bending, squatting, twisting

Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality photographs to support specific projects
  • Handle physical archival collections
  • Professionally interact with clients
  • Meet production deadlines
  • Maintain equipment and stock necessary supplies
  • Travel to client sites as required
  • Name files for consistency, organization, and ease of use
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
